Shell and Tube.

Common types of heat exchangers, usually used in relatively high pressure condition, which consists of a shell in which organized an annulus with a specific sequence (to obtain optimum surface area). Fluid flow in the shell or in the annulus resulting in heat transfer between fluid in the annulus wall as an intermediary. Several types of circuits such annulus; triangular, square, etc..


Plat Type
Another example is a plate type heat exchangers. This type of instrument consists of several plates arranged in a certain sequence, and the fluid that flows in between.

Understanding Heat Transfer
Tool heat exchanger is a device that generates heat from a fluid of higher temperature to the fluid temperature lower. Heat transfer process can be conducted directly and indirectly. The point is:
a.Alat direct contact heat exchanger in this instrument will heat the fluid which directly mixed with cold fluid (without any separator) in a vessel or space. For example Ejector, daerator and others.

So the heat transfer process that has a media intermediary, such as pipes, plates, or other types of equipment. For example a condenser, water ekonomiser Preheater and others.

Ways Heat Transfer
Heat transfer can be defined as the migration of energy from place to place as a result of the temperature difference between these places. In general, heat transfer can take place through the 3 way conduction, convection, radiation. For tool spiral type heat exchanger is more emphasis on heat transfer by convection so that discussion did not explain the heat transfer by conduction and radiation.

Convection is the process of energy transport by the combined work of heat conduction, energy storage and movement of fluid mixing. Convection heat transfer by way of moving the convection flow is classified in the free and forced convection. Said to be convection-free (free / Natural Convection) if the motion
mixing caused by density differences in the density gradient caused by temperature, for example movements seen in the water being heated. Whereas if the fluid motion caused by worn from the outside such as energy or pokpa fan as it is called forced convection (Forced Convection), for example cooling radiator with air exhaled by a fan.

The effectiveness of heat transfer by convection depends largely mixed fluid motion. So that convection displacement studies based on knowledge of the characteristics of fluid flow.
